FAQ

Q: Who can join the band?

A: Just about anyone! If you play a musical instrument and are in high school or older, you are welcome to join.

Q: Do I have to be good at playing an instrument to join?

A: Certainly not! Our band members come from many different ability levels; some have played all their lives, some are just starting, and some were regular players who gave it up and returned after many years. It is common for those getting back to concert ability to ‘sit out’ when the chart is too difficult and to rely on those in their section until they feel comfortable.  If you are rusty, don't worry; that won’t last long! The band members are all very supportive, and the environment in the band is warm and encouraging.

Q: Is it expensive to join?

A: Yearly dues are $30, and we do require a one-time purchase of band-specified formal wear, which is roughly $100. Band shirts are $20. If we charter a bus, you may need to pay for your seat. Otherwise, there are no other costs to you.

Q: Do I have to travel far for concerts and other events?

A: Most of our concerts are in Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Cloverdale, and Sebastopol, though occasionally buses have been used to travel to San Francisco in the past. Most of our band members live in and around Sonoma County, however, and the commute is very minimal.

Q: How can I find out about upcoming concerts?

A: You can view this season's concert schedule by clicking on the "Schedule & Tickets" link at the top of this page. There you can also find out how to purchase tickets, and what venues we will be playing throughout the year.
